Footnotes

THE CLIFF'S EDGE unhurried early off the inside, moved out to the four path on the backstretch, angled back in to advance in the two path after five furlongs, angled three wide leaving the second turn when rallying and finished willingly to be up in time. LION HEART vied for the early lead three wide, took over before a half, moved in to be off the inside on the second turn, responded willingly in the stretch and held on gamely only to be outfinished. LIMEHOUSE contested the pace from the inside, could not keep pace with LION HEART after a half, stayed on well to midstretch and tired. MUSTANFAR steadied briefly behind the leaders when near the inside early on the first turn, raced forwardly near the rail, split rivals with three furlongs to go, but had no further response. BREAKAWAY outrun for six furlongs, split horses entering the stretch but could not threaten. ACTION THIS DAY reserved early, was no factor. PREACHINATTHEBAR prompted the early pace between rivals, dropped back a bit before a half then faded in the final three furlongs. THAT'S AN OUTRAGE hesitated at the start, was wide early, made a steady run to within striking distance with three furlongs to go but stopped.
