Footnotes |
|
|
LION TAMER settled three or four wide
when outsprinted early, remained four abreast while advancing on the turn,
came out a bit farther on the track when straightened for the drive, was
soundly shaken up with the whip on the left side, then, after the rider
switched his stick to the right hand, continued under strong encouragement to
prevail. PRIVATE HORDE broke a bit awkwardly, moved up soon after to press
front-running MARINO MARINI five wide, edged in on the turn, gained a brief,
slim lead about the sixteenth pole but couldn't withstand LION TAMER'S surge.
MARINO MARINI gained the lead at the start, raced four wide early while
managing a slight advantage, edged in two wide on the turn, lost the lead to
PRIVATE HORDE a sixteenth out and held on stubbornly the remainder.
SCRIMSHAW, well placed inside from early on, continued inside into the lane,
eased out four wide for the final sixteenth but couldn't muster a further
response. CHRISTINE'S OUTLAW tracked the leaders four or five wide on the
backstretch, edged in a bit around the turn while within easy striking
distance, came out again to race five wide in the drive but was empty. SAINT
WAKI, sluggish to begin, raced four wide, came out six abreast into the lane
but never menaced. |
