entering the stretch, accelerated to the front nearing the furlong marker

CEDAR SUMMER raced well back for a half after breaking a bit slowly, swung
four wide entering the stretch then rallied belatedly in the middle of the
track. LADY SABRINA sprinted clear soon after the start, raced uncontested on

DESPERADO KID had good early speed
between foes then dueled outside a rival, inched away in the stretch, drifted
in a bit past the eighth pole, was straightened with the left handed whip and
proved best. BLAZING SONG dueled a bit off the rail then along the inside,
altered course outside off the winner's heels past the eighth pole and just
held second. MYSTIC RUNNER angled in outside a rival then saved ground off
the pace, went around a foe on the turn, angled back in, put in a bid along
the rail in the stretch and missed the place. INDIES (GB) stalked the pace
outside a rival on the backstretch, split horses early on the turn, came out
into the stretch and lacked the needed rally. HONEST CHANCE unhurried off the
inside on the backstretch and turn, went outside a foe into the stretch and
was not a threat. HEROIC MOMENT had speed three deep then stalked outside or
off the rail, came three wide into the stretch and weakened. ARRIVE sent up
inside to stalk the pace, was in a bit tight off heels nearing the turn, came
just off the rail in the stretch and gave way. ROSINSKY allowed to settle
along the inside, saved ground off the pace and was outrun. |

to the front a furlong out, battled into deep stretch then yielded
grudgingly. SLICK AS SLEW sprinted clear soon after the start, set the pace
along the inside for a half, fought gamely into deep stretch and weakened
late. DANISH DANCER (ARG) raced in the middle of the pack for a half, waited
patiently for room behind a wall of horses on the turn, altered course to the
outside in upper stretch then rallied belatedly in the middle of the track.

SPEIGHTSTOWN broke out a bit, sped to
the early lead, set the pace toward the inside, inched away in the stretch
and won clear under some urging. MCCANN'S MOJAVE stalked the pace three deep
on the backstretch and into the turn, was between foes midway on the bend,
continued off the rail into the stretch and was second best. PUBLICATION
dropped back off the rail early then angled in, came out leaving the turn and
a bit wide into the stretch and picked up the show. CONGAREE chased off the
rail on the backstretch, advanced three deep on the turn to loom a threat,
lacked the needed response, then drifted inward in deep stretch and weakened.
NEW YORK HERO stalked the winner between horses on the backstretch and into
the turn, continued outside a rival leaving the turn and also weakened. SAINT
WAKI dropped back without early speed, angled in early and saved ground but
was outrun. PRIVATE HORDE squeezed back at the start, pulled his way up
inside to stalk the pace on the backstretch and turn but had little left for
the stretch. |

through the final furlong and continued gamely to the wire. RANDAROO lugged
out a bit while speeding to the early lead, set the pace just off the inside,
dueled inside rivals leaving the turn and into the stretch, came off the rail
in midstretch and just held third. KEIAI SAKURA stalked outside a rival then
off the rail, angled in leaving the turn, came out in the stretch and was
edged for the show. |

STROLL closest to the pace while
reserved, challenged from the three path with three furlongs to go, shook off
SWEET RETURN inside the final furlong and drew clear under steady urging.
SWEET RETURN (GB) sprinted clear, set a slow pace while off the hedge,
responded willingly when challenged on the second turn, held on well to
inside the final furlong, could not stay with the winner late and outfinished
MYSTERY GIVER for the place. MYSTERY GIVER drifted out at the start
tightening up outer rivals, was straightened to be forwardly placed between
rivals, steadied once in the first turn when in tight, advanced three wide
after six furlongs, split rivals in upper stretch, angled out with a furlong
to go and rallied willingly. BURNING SUN forwardly placed off the inside,
angled out four wide late on the second turn for clear room but lacked a late
bid. HONOR IN WAR reserved off the inside, steadied entering the first turn
when in tight, made a mild middle move off the hedge then lacked a closing
bid. KICKEN KRIS bumped at the start, was in tight soon after when the winner
came in a bit and MYSTERY GIVER drifted out, recovered to race within
striking distance four wide but tired. EVERYTHING TO GAIN outrun early, raced
in the four path on the second turn and was no threat. SIR CHEROKEE bumped at
the start and then steadied when MYSTERY GIVER drifted out, was outrun for
six furlongs and rallied belatedly. STAGE CALL (IRE) forwardly placed four
wide, faded in the final three furlongs. PERFECT SOUL (IRE) pulled a bit
early along the inside when within striking distance, faded after a half.
SKATE AWAY outrun, lost his rider after six furlongs. SKATE AWAY was vanned

SMARTY JONES, bumped between horses
approaching the first turn, settled in good position along the backstretch,
raced just behind the pacesetter leaving the far turn, closed the gap from
outside midway on the turn, made a run to challenge at the top of the
stretch, surged to the front with a furlong remaining then edged away under
steady right and left hand encouragement. LION HEART rushed up to gain the
early advantage, raced uncontested on the lead along the backstretch, set a
rapid pace along the rail for a mile, dug in when challenged leaving the
quarter pole, battled heads apart into midstretch but couldn't stay with the
winner through the final sixteenth. IMPERIALISM bumped and steadied in
traffic at the seven-eighths pole, raced far back for six furlongs, saved
ground into the far turn, began to work his way out for room on the turn,
swung six wide at the top of the stretch then closed late while drifting in
through the stretch to gain a share. LIMEHOUSE was shuffled back a bit along
the inside on the first turn, raced in the middle of the pack for six
furlongs, saved ground while launching his bid approaching the quarter pole,
made a run to reach contention in midstretch but couldn't sustain his bid.
THE CLIFF'S EDGE broke a bit slowly, was outrun while strung out five wide
going into the first turn, moved to the outside of TAPIT midway down the
backstretch, continued wide while moving to contention on the second turn
then failed to threaten while improving his position in the middle of the
track. ACTION THIS DAY was unhurried in the early going while racing well off
the pace, steadied along the inside midway on the turn, swung out in upper
stretch then passed mostly tiring horses. READ THE FOOTNOTES steadied in
traffic between horses on the first turn, raced three wide while gaining
ground along the backstretch, launched his bid between horses on the far
turn, made a run to reach contention midway on the turn but couldn't sustain
his rally. BIRDSTONE was pinched back a bit at the start then steadied in
traffic in the early stages, worked his way forward between horses at the
half mile pole, raced within striking distance on the turn then lacked a
strong closing response. TAPIT broke a bit slowly, steadied in traffic at the
seven-eighths pole, was caught five wide leaving the first turn, continued
well off the rail along the backstretch, angled in a bit while gaining
slightly at the top of the stretch then lacked a further response. BORREGO
was reserved for a half, steadied in traffic between horses at the half mile
pole, made a move to reach contention leaving the turn then faded in the
stretch. SONG OF THE SWORD checked along the inside on the first turn and
failed to seriously threaten thereafter. MASTER DAVID bumped while between
horses on the first turn, raced well back for six furlongs, steadied in
traffic at the half mile pole and was never close thereafter while six wide
at the top of the stretch. PRO PRADO was caught four wide on the first turn,
chased the leaders from outside along the backstretch, edged a bit closer
midway on the turn then flattened out. CASTLEDALE (IRE) swerved out in the
early stages, raced in tight approaching the far turn then failed to mount a
serious rally thereafter. FRIENDS LAKE steadied between horses while in tight
on the first turn, never reached contention. MINISTER ERIC steadied along the
rail leaving the first turn, moved up along the inside along the backstretch,
dropped back on the turn and gave way in the stretch. POLLARD'S VISION bumped
at the start, stalked the leaders while four wide for six furlongs then gave
way. QUINTONS GOLD RUSH up close early, took up between horses at the half
mile pole then gave way and was eased late. Due to the scratches of WIMBLEDON
and ST. AVERIL, the two inside stalls in the main gate were not utilized. |
