Footnotes

KILGOWAN broke cleanly but was permitted to lag early while racing just off the rail, moved a bit closer three wide on the second turn, responded in the upper stretch but was bumped off stride nearing the furlong pole by SKIPASLEW, recovered and came back on gamely from the extreme outside and was up in the late stages. CAPITANO alternated on the lead outside WILDWOOD FLOWER throughout and continued gamely in the lane to just miss. SEATTLE BORDERS stalked the dueling leaders three wide throughout and finished willingly to just miss. O. K. MIKIE broke a bit slow and was permitted to lag far back to the second turn, quickly reached contention two wide into the lane, shifted outside SEATTLE BORDERS at the furlong pole and continue to close from between horses late. WILDWOOD FLOWER broke alertly to take command into the first turn, alternated on the lead with CAPITANO to mid stretch and gradually slackened. TOTALLY PLATINUM stalked the leaders from the rail to the stretch but lacked the needed response. SKIPASLEW was permitted to settle early three wide to the backstretch, remained out on the second turn, drifted out nearing the furlong pole and bumped solidly with the winner, recovered but lacked the needed response. LIPAN raced wide throughout and failed to threaten. TACKY was void of early speed and never reached serious contention. TREVANIAN raced forwardly placed but five wide to the backstretch, continued wide on the second turn and came up empty.
