BIRDSTONE taken in hand to stalk the
pace three wide, moved to gain command at the top of the stretch and drew
clear under a hand ride. CAPEJINSKY prompted the pace outside CAIMAN, gained
a slim lead on the far turn but was no match for the winner in the drive
while holding the place. CAIMAN set the pace along the inside, continued on
well into the stretch after losing the lead, then
weakened in the final eighth. SMOOCHER steadied in behind CAIMAN on the first
turn, tracked the leaders into the far turn and tired. FARNUM ALLEY saved
ground and faltered. ALL TRUE was through after six furlongs. |

outside BELICHICK, responded when headed by MR. LIGHT in the stretch and
continued on gamely while being edged to the wire. ADMIRATION unhurried
early, advanced between horses on the far turn, was steadied when caught in
tight in the stretch, angled outside the leaders and finished willingly for
the show. BALLERINA'S HALO allowed to settle, swung
out for the stretch run and closed with a mild rally. AFFABLE outrun after
breaking slowly, was advancing into contention when checked in behind
ADMIRATION in the stretch and failed to threaten. MUCH RESPECT chased the
pace, raced four wide on the far turn and weakened. GONE BALLISTIC reserved
early, raced three wide on the far turn and failed to menace. EAGLES HILL
rated off the pace while saving ground, checked on the far turn and failed to
recover. BELICHICK vied for the lead along the inside to midstretch
and gave way. COUNTER PUNCH tracked the pace, was steadied in behind rivals
