POLLARD'S VISION sprinted clear soon
after the start, set the pace in hand while saving ground along the
backstretch, shook loose leaving the far turn, dug in when challenged in
upper stretch, shook off SONG OF THE SWORD leaving the furlong marker then
edged away under strong left hand encouragement. SONG OF THE SWORD steadied
in tight between horses approaching the first turn, raced in good position
along the backstretch, moved out to launch his bid on the far turn, rapidly
closed the gap while three wide to threaten nearing the quarter pole, made a run
outside the winner to challenge in upper stretch but couldn't stay with that
one through the final eighth. SUAVE settled just off the early pace, swung
out entering the backstretch, raced in the middle of the pack while well off
the rail for six furlongs, closed the gap while four wide on the turn, moved
into contention from outside at the top of the stretch then lacked a strong
closing bid. O. K. MIKIE was outrun for six furlongs, raced far back to the
turn, swung six wide at the top of the stretch then improved his position
with a late run in the middle of the track. SKIPASLEW raced in good position
through the opening half, raced just behind the leaders while saving ground
to the turn, dropped back in upper stretch and steadily tired thereafter.
KILGOWAN steadied along the inside on the first turn, raced in midpack while three wide along the backstretch, angled,
four wide while gaining slightly on the turn then lacked a strong closing
response. PURE AMERICAN stalked the leaders while four wide along the backstretch,
continued wide while just off the pace on the turn, drifted out in upper
stretch then raced erratically while tiring in the la lane. DANCEFORTYNINER
broke in the air at the start and was never closed thereafter while saving
ground throughout. CHROME SOLDIER prompted the pace between horses for six
furlongs and faded. FARNUM ALLEY failed to mount a serious rally while five
wide throughout. WHITE MOUNTAIN BOY was never a factor and faltered badly in
the stretch. |
