Footnotes

BWANA CHARLIE, forwardly placed between foes from the outset, gained a narrow lead leaving the backstretch, was headed briefly from the outside just prior to going a half by QUICK ACTION, regained the edge soon after, shook off that rival, drifted out briefly at the eighth pole, then, when straightened away, widened a bit under steady right-handed encouragement. QUICK ACTION broke in front, eased back outside of TALES OF GLORY and BWANA CHARLIE, inched to challenge midway on the turn, briefly put his head in front of the winner, lost the advantage back to BWANA CHARLIE soon after and couldn't keep pace as second best. TALES OF GLORY, off a half-step slow, rushed to the front after a furlong, lost the lead to the winner concluding the backstretch and weakened gradually after a half. CALL ME SHANE came out at the break bumping lightly with PERPETUAL PEACE, raced five or six wide most of the way and wasn't a threat while improving position. PERPETUAL PEACE, lightly bumped at the start by CALL ME SHANE, was five wide early, edged in slightly on the turn, was again four wide for the stretch run and came up empty. WULPE, well placed near the inside between foes during the early stages, remained near the inside and was finished approaching the stretch.
