Footnotes

CASTLEDALE (IRE) pulled early, chased a bit off the rail, went outside a rival on the second turn, swung widest into the stretch, had the rider lose the whip nearing midstretch, then rallied under strong handling while drifting in to get up late. ROCK HARD TEN three deep into the first turn, stalked outside, went up four wide with a bid leaving the backstretch and on the second turn and into the stretch, put a head in front past the eighth pole, drifted in under right handed pressure in deep stretch, brushed with the winner and held on gamely but was caught late. IMPERIALISM came a bit off the rail on the first turn and settled off the pace, moved up inside on the second turn, went around LUCKY PULPIT nearing the stretch, bid along the rail in the lane, steadied sharply in tight a sixteenth out and could not offer the necessary late kick. QUINTONS GOLD RUSH had good early speed and dueled outside a rival, regained the advantage on the second turn, fought back off the rail into the stretch and between foes past midstretch and weakened. WIMBLEDON a half step slow to begin, stalked a bit off the rail, came out on the backstretch and bid three deep between foes into and on the second turn and into the stretch and weakened. ST AVERIL four wide into the first turn, chased outside, dropped back into and on the second turn and also weakened. LUCKY PULPIT dueled inside, put a head back in front into the second turn, dropped back leaving that turn, steadied into the stretch and had little left. Following a stewards' inquiry, ROCK HARD TEN was disqualified and placed third for interference in deep stretch. A claim of foul by the rider of ROCK HARD TEN against the winner was not allowed by the stewards, who ruled both runners contributed to the light contact between them.
