Footnotes

PEACE RULES took charge from the outset, set a strong pace while in hand, responded when joined by FUNNY CIDE from the inside and NEWFOUNDLAND from the outside, dug in gamely after losing the lead by the eighth pole, came again while between those two rivals and proved best after a long drive. NEWFOUNDLAND raced with the pace from the outside, advanced three wide on the second turn, loomed boldly approaching the eighth pole and stayed on gamely but could not handle the winner late. FUNNY CIDE raced with the pace along the inside, came through on the rail on the second turn, earned a short lead in the stretch and stayed on gamely on the rail. COLONIAL COLONY was outrun early on, advanced on the second turn, swung wide into the stretch, responded when roused and finished gamely outside. SARAVA was urged along to stay close early, rallied three wide approaching the stretch and dug in gamely to the wire. DYNEVER was outrun early, rallied along the inside on the second turn and finished well. BOWMAN'S BAND was unhurried outside while outrun early, was angled to the inside on the backstretch, put in a run along the rail on the second turn and had little left for the stretch drive. DEVIL TIME dropped back after the opening half mile.
