gave way in the drive. DISTINCTIVE MR. B showed early foot, raced four wide
on the turn and tired. SUAVE GENTLEMAN rushed up after breaking poorly,

RENARD BLEU rated off pace, angled four
wide on the turn, rallied to take over inside the eighth pole, then was fully
extended to last over REGGIE FOR THREE. The latter, unhurried after being
steadied in behind CHINA GOLD at the start, saved ground around the turn,
angled out widest of all in the stretch and was gaining on the winner at the
finish. SUMMER BOOK reserved off the pace, saved ground around the turn,
angled out and closed to be up for the show. CHINA GOLD bobbled at the start,
moved up to chase the pace three wide, made a run to reach near even terms
for command in midstretch, then weakened. CATASCATCAN chased the pace off the
rail into the stretch and tired. |

MUSTANFAR rated off the pace, swung
outside the leaders on the far turn, then rallied under pressure to be just
up at the wire. SUAVE chased the pace, moved to take over outside FUMPH
AROUND on the far turn, then drifted in at the eighth pole impeding
SWINGFORTHEFENCES and just failed to last. SWINGFORTHEFENCES tracked the pace
along the inside, was forced to check in behind SUAVE at the eighth pole,
recovered and finished willingly for the show. PLAY ALL NIGHT reserved off
the pace, made a run four wide on the far turn to loom a threat, then tired
in the drive. DASHING DEPUTY stalked the pace three wide, made a run to reach
near even terms for command on the far turn, then faltered. BALLADO BREEZE
failed to menace. CURRENT NINER was never a factor. MR. WILLIE JOE was
outrun. STORMY'SBACK showed little while racing four wide. FUMPH AROUND showed
speed along the inside into the far turn, stopped and was eased in the final
eighth. Following a stewards inquiry and a claim of foul by the rider of
SWINGFORTHEFENCES, SUAVE was disqualified and placed third for interference
at the eighth pole. |
