Derby backstretch
There were a few nice girls in our section. Too bad Phil couldn't open his
eyes to see how cute they were.

We took a visit to the farms while we were there
1st. Airdrie Stud was very hospitable to us.
Doug finds his favorite horse from yesteryear, Harlan's Holiday.
Phil quickly became Proud Citizen's best friend.

OK, Slew City Slew is the craziest horse I've ever seen. These are taken at a rare
moment that he wasn't running around whinnying his head off.
He stopped to try to figure out who were were. When I was trying to figure
out who they were, this one was a dead giveaway before we even neared the gate.
Just like his father, as far as behavior. As you can see he wasn't interested in
taking orders from Phil, but somehow we got Slew City to pose by his sign.
Deputy commander was also interested in meeting us.

We did drive by but didn't venture into... the Castle Farm.

Alas we dined at the Oakroom, where the food (and the company) is most
excellent. We'll get our pics of Dan Daly up soon.
Of course a Derby trip isn't complete without a golf outing.
Valhalla: a good looking course, while being groomed for Senior Open.
