OFFICIAL RULES

1. This contest may or may not require any monetary contribution. However, if you wish to contribute to the show or station, please write me at doug@ffreview.com and use the same for the paypal address.

2. One entry per person will be counted. Any extraneous (previous) entries will be thrown away.

3. Errors: The grid does limited error checking. If you submit a grid in error, you may submit another one. The more recent grid will simply replace any older one that you submitted, which will be tossed. Any entry without valid name and email address will have to be discounted.

4. Winner will be announced after the NBA playoffs are completed.

5. Prizes for the 2005 contest have yet to be determined. It is becoming likely that we will charge a small entrance fee for the pool this year in order to provide some enjoyable prizes, monetary and otherwise.

5. Deadline will be Saturday, April 23 2005 at approximately 2:00pm or before the 1st point is scored on the day. Any grids submitted after that time will simply not be counted.

6. Scoring will be conducted as follows:

Round Scoring Bonus points for series games differential:
2 points for 1st round winner correct
4 points for conference semifinal winner
8 points for conference champion
14 points for NBA champion
0 (you got the # of games right:): 4 points
1 (you missed series length by 1): 2 points
2 (missed by 2): 1 point
3 (missed by 3 or more games): 0 points
New in 2005: Bonus points for seeds:
Take the differential of seed numbers, and if your team has the higher number and won the series, you get the points. Examples:
1 beats 4: you get 0
8 beats 1: you get 7
5 beats 4: you get 1

(Bonus points are only awarded if the series winner was correct)

If people are tied after all of this, the tiebreaker will use your guestimate of the final game score for the championship series (game 4, 5, 6, or 7, whatever it happens to be).  Score differential followed by closest winner's score.

Looks at Doug's masterful grid for an example.
